The museum is located along the shore of San Miguel and was previously a luxury hotel. Despite the somewhat high cost of an ATV or dune buggy tour, it’s an excellent option for individuals who like to explore at their own pace. On the menu, you’ll find offerings such as chocolate martinis, margaritas, mudslide drinks, classic mole recipes, freshly ground cacao, and chocolate bars. At the Royal Village Shopping Center, you’ll find stores that sell apparel, sportswear, jewelry, vitamins and supplements, and even a casino. One nice thing about catching a taxi in Cozumel is that prices are set and displayed prominently at the cruise port. The prices are listed in U.S. dollars, and you can pay without having to exchange money. Be sure to bring correct change, plus a few bucks extra for a tip. Water sports, including banana boat rides and glass-bottom boats, as well as massages, are offered for an additional fee. The all-inclusive fee includes drinks, beach access, free WiFi, a pool, a hot tub, restrooms, outdoor showers, and more. After paying the balance of our day pass, we were guided to a set of chairs and an umbrella.

This adults-only all-inclusive may not be right on the beach, but don't let that dissuade you. Sometimes, ships will have to anchor just offshore if it’s a very busy day with 7 or 8 cruise ships coming in. In these cases the ships will tender passengers to some of the smaller piers near Puerta Maya. There’s a reason it’s one of the most visited cruise ports in the world. Most people gravitate towards the west side of Cozumel because of San Miguel, the many beach clubs, and all the three cruise ports along the coast. The International Pier is three miles south, and then Puerta Maya is the furthest outside of town, nearly five miles away. From Puerta Maya, it’s too far to walk into town, but you’re closer to the beach clubs.

Remember, if you have lunch at Pancho’s Backyard at the north end of town, you’ll be right there at Los Cinco Solas. Of course, you’ll want to pick up some great souvenirs for your loved ones at home and also something for yourself to remember the trip. There’s also a sandy walking path down to the rocky, limestone beach. With stunning views of the Caribbean Sea and excellent drinks and snacks, this is a great way to end your day in Cozumel. You won’t have to dive too deep to see all that you’d want to see on a snorkeling excursion.
If you love food, you’ll be happy to learn that Cozumel has some fabulous places to eat. If you’re like me, when I travel, I want to make sure to sample the best authentic food I can find. After you leave your ship, you’ll find a lush garden full of flowers and plants and the most extensive shopping mall out of all three ports.

Tipping is not mandatory in Cozumel but is appreciated for good service. In restaurants, a small tip of around 10-15% of the total bill for good service is customary. It’s also common to tip hotel staff and taxi drivers for good service, with a small amount per day or ride being appropriate. Cozumel shopping is easy, which makes it one of the top things to do here. Shopaholics of all types can have a field day while shopping in Cozumel and nearby San Miguel. Downtown San Miguel is walkable, but if you want to go further afield, you may need some wheels. Fortunately, cabs are found around the island, but due to demand, prices can get expensive.
Some parts of El Cielo have such shallow waters that you can stand on your feet without any trouble. El Cielo is an excellent choice for beginner divers, featuring pristine, turquoise waters and an abundance of marine creatures. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a spotted eagle ray, octopus, or nurse shark. If you plan to relax, you’ll find umbrellas and chairs available, though there’s a requirement to make a purchase at the restaurant or pay a fee for their use.

There are so many things to do that it’s tough to decide the best things to do in Cozumel, especially when you only have one day in port. There are over 100,000 people living at this municipality which is just off the eastern coast of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula. The largest city is San Miguel which is right near the cruise ports on the west end of the island.
